In certain cases, the person who blocked you might not even have a personal problem with you. And if people can’t use it, they might leave Facebook, especially if they’re feeling bullied or threatened by someone. Plus, if a block was obvious, people might not use it. The reasoning behind this is pretty simple: They do not want their service to be a cause of friction between people. Why is all of this so difficult?įacebook doesn’t want you to know if somebody has blocked you and they will do whatever they can to make it impossible for you to tell. Note that I specifically used words such as “likely” and “usually” because Facebook are constantly changing how their system works. What a deactivated profile usually looks like in Messenger: When an account has been deactivated, their name and profile photo are usually blank. If their name and photo appears but you are unable to click onto their profile, then it is likely that they blocked you. If the two of your previously messaged each other on Facebook, then you can open up the conversation and see if their name and photo still appears. If you can search for the person while using a fake profile, then they have definitely blocked you. This is a bad idea, as it goes against Facebook’s Terms of Service and their systems can automatically detect fake accounts. Using a fake profile to search for their name. The question here is: Would this person have a reason to block you? If not, then they’ve probablyjust deactivated their account. A number of people on my friend list are constantly deactivating and reactivating their Facebook accounts. This is pretty common, as a lot of people like to take a break from Facebook every now and again. However, there is also the possibility that they deactivated their Facebook account. If you search for a person’s name on Facebook and they don’t appear, then it is possible that they blocked you. I can’t search for their name!
